My Favourite ‘Old Money Aesthetic’ Fonts from Canva
Thanks to the recent meteoric rise of Sofia Richie, and nostalgic flashbacks to the eternally popular movie, The Parent Trap, ‘old money aesthetic’ has never been more in demand.
From types of clothing, to vacation destinations and beyond, this elegant vibe has taken over the TikTok feeds and Pinterest home pages of Gen Zs and younger millennials. So, what is ‘old money aesthetic’ and how can you bring a little more of it into your brand?
Unlike the original term ‘old money’, which the Oxford dictionary defines as “wealth that that has been inherited rather than earned”, old money aesthetic is something that, given the right choices, one can pretty easily curate in their own life. It oozes subtle luxury, tasteful opulence, and refined simplicity.
Think along the lines of tennis games, polo shirts, coupe glasses of champagne, gold jewellery, breakfast at the country club, croquet in the garden, and coastal grandmother fashion.
Geographically, the aesthetic draws inspiration from the Hamptons, lakeside cottages, the French Rivieria, and the Napa Valley. It’s got a vintage influence with modern sophistication.
If you’re a brand that caters to young adults and teens, ‘old money aesthetic’ is worth considering bringing into your orbit. Many brands have done so already, with a huge surge in tennis-core clothing collections and timeless, understated jewellery edits.
Now to the fonts. To really encapsulate the aesthetic and styles of fonts, I collated my inspiration into a Pinterest board which you can check out here.
I’m a firm believer in accessible design for small businesses that you can maintain yourself, and will never stop supporting and recommending Canva. It’s easy to use and really is your one-stop-shop for creating professional-looking marketing.
But with so many fonts available on the platform, it can be super hard to find the perfect fit. I’ve done the hard work for you - here’s an ‘old money aesthetic’ font cheat sheet!
